Who We Are

Cyrillica’s founder, Heidi Smith, has over twenty years experience in the business and government sectors. She started to learn Russian in 1990 and spent a year in Ulyanovsk, working at the local branch of Moscow State University. In 1992 she made a series of TV documentaries with the Simbirsk TV company about the consequences of transition for people living outside the big Russian cities.

Heidi gained her professional services experience with Accenture in London and technical project-management and training experience with Oracle in San Francisco.

Between 2003 and 2006 she was based in Belarus, where she managed legislation reform projects on behalf of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Later she was appointed Senior Advisor to the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. She is an experienced election observer in the Russian-speaking countries and founded Russian Paralegals, the sister company to Cyrillica, in 2011.

Heidi graduated from Durham University with a degree in Modern Languages and Politics, achieving a starred distinction in Russian. She holds two masters degrees in social sciences and law from the London School of Economics and City University.

Heidi works with a team of highly-qualified lawyers and business professionals, who are assigned to client projects in the UK and abroad.  Cyrillica is based in London.
